MS Access 2003 – form input to update table?

I downloaded an access database template from ms. There was a pre-built form that allows for entry then updates a table. I added a column to the table called “closed date” then added a combo box (a label with text box) and called it “closed date and I would like to link this new combo box back to the table. I have tried to look at the properties of the other combo boxes to see how they’re linked but could not figure it out. I also thought it was a “relationship” property but not sure. Any help would be great.

oh, and the template is called Issues if needed.

Firstly, not all combo boxes data source (list of values) is based on the underlying table as it can be based on any table, query or SQL statement. Therefore, when you look at the properties of the existing combo box, it may not always be so obvious.

You need to make sure the combo box “Control Source” property is linked to your new field from the underlying table. So if the field is called “closed date”, then this would be stored as “[closed date]” (you need the square brackets due to spaces in your field name).

There are other properties that you should also check for in the combo box which include the “Bound Column”, “Column Count” and “Column Widths”. Take a look the each property (click into it) and then press the F1 function key for more help.

Hope this helped!
