CSS in a single file or separate files?

Just a little design issue. I tend to keep all my CSS for a website a single large file and attach it to every single page. Am I better off keeping things in separate files so I can only join when needed? For example, having a forms.css being attached to pages only with the form properties, rather than keeping the form code within a large CSS file and have attached to each page. Obviously, I want to optimize the performance, I just wonder if it makes a difference to use separate CSS files for different things so that certain charges CSS code will not be attached when it is not necessary.

Aha good question. And I would say that separate these files:) Do CSS file as an object, simply thinking like a garment if I just want to buy a shirt from you Japan, you send me a hat, pants and shoes with it? does it make any difference to the cost and time if you send 1kg more 5tons that? If your page just head_file.css why you need to send AwholeBody_file.css? – Separate = is effective, it is fast. common sense: "Well the point anchorage is poor with this color, let me change the value of the anchor line in 1289 "or" Let me open and footer.css change the value in Line 34 "- separate = size is well organized, time, usefulness, limitations, could be dependent on a single space. good luck-of
