How do I create a cookie on my web form HTML?
I created a web form that I use for users to register Online. I need to create a cookie that will tell me if the user has registered on my site before (possibly using the address e-mail on the ground to verify). Once the cookie is created on the visitor's hard drive, I need the user to be redirected to one two websites: my confirmation page or a page showing the visitor that they have already signed. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you advance! By the way, I would like to have this cookie set in Java as I already have my form validation web codded in Java.

The Digital Page: Page One $13.58 Pianist-vocalist Page Cavanaugh’s first recording in a decade (and his first CD) is a real gem. Still very much in his prime, Cavanaugh reunited with Al Viola (who was his regular guitarist in the 1940s) and used the fine supportive bassist Allen Jackson to complete the trio. The interplay between Cavanaugh and Viola is consistently impressive, Page’s vocals on four of the 11 songs are charming and the tunes that are performed (which mix together swing standards with superior obscurities including Artie Shaw’s “Love of My Life” and Bobby Troup’s “There’s No Spring”) are all quite enjoyable. This set is one of the recorded highpoints of Page Cavanaugh’s career, as is a second record (Page Two) culled from the same session. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi Performers: Al Viola – Guitar; Allen Jackson – Bass; Page Cavanaugh – Piano, Vocals |

The Digital Page: Page Two $13.58 Page Cavanaugh first made history in the mid- to late ’40s, leading a popular trio that included guitarist Al Viola. Four decades later Cavanaugh and Viola started teaming up again on a regular basis with bassist Allen Jackson in a highly enjoyable trio. Cavanaugh’s piano playing had (if anything) grown in power and creativity through the years while exploring the same modern swing style that he had earlier helped to popularize. For this CD (taken from the same session that had resulted in the equally satisfying Page One), the trio stretches out on nine memorable standards plus Cavanaugh’s “An Old Acquaintance”; the leader’s vocals on three songs are quite personable. Highlights include “Too Marvelous for Words,” “What Can I Say After I Say I’m Sorry,” “As Long As I Live,” and “Baby, Baby All the Time.” Both Starline CDs are highly recommended. ~ Scott Yanow, Rovi Performers: Al Viola – Guitar; Allen Jackson – Bass; Page Cavanaugh – Vocals, Piano |

The Forms $11.18 Nearly four years after their debut album, Icarus, the Forms return with the far superior self-titled follow-up. Again working with Steve Albini, the Brooklyn-based quartet moves far beyond the chilly, slightly pretentious post-rock of 2003′s Icarus. The Forms is much more song-based and melodic than its sketchier predecessor, with a new emphasis on structure and tunes. The album is still a moody and impressionistic affair that favors sensuality over literal meaning — lead singer Alex Tween’s vocals are buried so deep in the mix he often might as well not be singing in English — but songs like “Transmission,” “Getting It Back,” and “Knowledge in Hand” are far easier to grasp than anything on the Forms’ debut. Even the less direct material, like “Focus” and “Oberlin,” two brief songs that are more like evocative soundscapes than fully fleshed-out pop songs, feels more precisely put together. Experimental without losing its accessibility, The Forms is an excellent example of how to make a smart, compelling indie rock album without getting lost in the weeds of artsy meaninglessness. ~ Stewart Mason, Rovi |

Forms and Follies $12.78 The four years between Cavalcade (1999) and Forms and Follies (2003) were busy ones for Jeremy Jacobsen. He recorded two jazzy math rock albums with fellow Chicagoans Euphone, wound up on a Blues Explosion record (1999′s odds ‘n’ sods collection Xtra Acme), and dazzled crowds the world over with his bottomless bag of tricks as one-man band extraordinaire the Lonesome Organist. His reputation far outweighs his slim catalog of three albums in seven years, aided in no small part by his busy but not-so-lonesome tour schedule, which included a prestigious late-2002 appearance at the David Bowie-curated Meltdown festival. Recalling nothing so much as Laurie Anderson’s initial stab at avant pop that gave the world “O Superman,” Forms and Follies doesn’t ape Anderson, but its result is as quirky, eclectic, and, at times, haunting as her work. “Who’s to Say Your Soul’s Not Carbon” could be an Anderson song, albeit one grafted in a Frankenstein fashion upon a fuzzy, reanimated grunge/garage tune. Jacobsen dabbles in multi-tracked doo wop on “Only if I Get You,” imaginary soundtracks on “Walking to Weston’s,” and Quintron meets Bruce Haack organ and drum antics on “The Multiplier,” and he continues with these eclectic jumps for the entirety of Forms and Follies. If musical ambitiousness were not enough, there’s a weighty flipbook included with two vignettes of the Organist in action. For any ear deadened by the sameness of other artists’ pop insensibilities, Forms and Follies is highly recommended — as is all of the Lonesome Organist’s output. ~ Wade Kergan, Rovi Performers: Nick Macri – Bass |

Fragile Forms $19.18 Guitarist Michael Musillami has grown and expanded his horizons over three decades of performing and recording. A much more progressive jazzman from his days playing standards, Musillami has also become a fine composer of notable original music. On this date with his quartet dubbed Dialect, the leader presents new material and a handful of reworked pieces from older recordings done with larger ensembles, but played with a foursome of incredible musicians. Peter Madsen has been a dazzling but unsung pianist in the modern jazz sphere. Drummer Matt Wilson and bassist Drew Gress have plenty of acclaim as sidemen and leaders. It’s not difficult to hear the shared values, respect, and trust this group exude in exponential terms. Of the new pieces, “Brooms” is a tribute to the brushwork of Wilson, a frantic waltz calmed, slowing altogether, and the most fragile deconstruct. “Ernie the Neck,” dedicated to Musillami’s 200-pound Great Dane, is a towering theme, imposing, a bit threatening in subtle ways, with a dank bass from Gress surrounding Wilson’s light funk. The heavily improvised title track sports triplet figures in different strategic placings, confident in its brave heart, contrasting with the brittle intro of the two-minute “Robmac,” essentially cautious and skeptical. Musillami’s tone is not overtly over the top or mutated, but solid, fluid, a bit angular and very accessible. Of the remakes, he prefers unison lines with Madsen that dart in and out of sight as on the unabashed, bop based, bouncy and dancing, at times furious “Seven Blend.” The sad ballad “Emmett Spencer” from his early days is redone, perhaps one of his more memorable pieces, and quite similar to “You Don’t Know What Love Is.” In over 13 minutes, “Beijing” (the title track of a previous CD) phases from dawn in Asia with gongs and percussion to overtone laden 6/8 time signature chords from Musillami with a bright modern line. Madsen shows his depth and substance throughout this CD in his brilliant solos and workmanlike partnership with Musillami on the complex melodies and shouted choruses. He never shows up in the critic’s polls, but is overdue to place and finish high on them. Michael Musillami, also one deserving wider recognition, has put together a string of excellent recordings for the Playscape label, and alongside the recording Dachau, this ranks with his very best. ~ Michael G. Nastos, Rovi Performers: Drew Gress – Bass; Matt Wilson – Drums; Michael Musillami – Guitar; Peter Madsen – Piano |

Two Forms of Multitudes: Conducted Improvisations $18.38 Taking a cue from Lawrence “Butch” Morris, Moe! Staiano (he actually writes his first name with an exclamation point) conducts two 40-minute pieces on this album. Recorded on separate occasions, and with different troops, the two pieces share the same sets of prepared written notations and hand cues, but the results are quite different. Staiano approaches large ensemble “conduction” as both a way to sculpt shapes in masses of sounds, and as a way to stage melodic and rhythmical fragments. The two ensembles consist of musicians from the Bay Area. On “Piece No. 5″, there is a hefty brass section, a mismatched string section (no cellos, but both double bass and electric bass), theremin, one drum set, and seven percussionists (including William Winant). For “Piece No. 4,” the brass section shrinks considerably, a flute is added, the strings section is developed (now including cellos and five guitarists), piano, four drummers, four percussionists, and a singer. Well, Jesse Quattro is both a singer and screamer, active in the death metal group Saint Of Killers, and in the experimental/improv collective The Abstractions, together with guitarist Ernesto Diaz-Infante, cellist Bob Marsh, and sax player Rent Romus, all present for this session. At times the music sounds thoroughly prepared, at others it becomes very chaotic, but Staiano keeps things under control, and the music has a gripping drive that compensates for the lack of detail in sound quality (recording a 30-piece orchestra with little to no budget presents certain risks). Highlights are found in Part Three of “Piece No. 5,” where a percussive locomotive propels a melody jumping around from instrument to instrument, while sustained brass clusters are being shaped, and in Part Four of “Piece No. 4,” where Robert Silverman’s theremin gets an unexpected feature spot backed by droning guitars. ~ François Couture, Rovi |
