I need to update a record in my table using Microsoft Access DB form.?

For example, I keep a running total of parts used so that each time an employee uses the form to enter the number of parts that he used a cumulative is maintained rather than the record being overwritten.

You should have a separate table – Parts. It will be a link to the table employees and the table of parts through identification numbers. It will also be a number field called the parts used, and probably a date field which defaults to today's date. Your form will be open in data entry, which has a new record empty, allowing the employee to enter the number of parts used on one occasion. Each time an employee opens the form, a new record is created. It is then a simple matter to run a totals query to indicate the total number of parts used. You can also complete parts used by a particular employee, or parts used in a certain TimeSpan.
